Homemade Meatloaf Recipe Ingredients
- 2 lbs of ground beef
- 1 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 finely diced onion
- 3 gloves of minced garlic
- 4 slices of Italian bread with crust cut off
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
- 2 eggs
- Dash of Worcester sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3/4 cup of ketchup
- 2 tbsp of tomato paste
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of dried mustard
- 1 tsp of paprika
- 1 tsp of granulated garlic
- 1 tsp of granulated onion
Step 1: Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2: Cook the onion and garlic in the olive oil for about 7 minutes.
Step 3: Put the slices of bread into a small bowl and soak them in milk for few minutes.
Step 4: Combine the milk-soaked bread, eggs, chopped parsley, Parmesan cheese, Worcester sauce, salt, pepper and the cooked onion-garlic mush in a large bowl.
Step 5: Add in the beef and using your hands mix everything until it’s well combined.
Step 6: Place the meat mixture onto the baking sheet, shape it into a nice loaf and set aside. TIP: Place a cooling rack or a broiler pan over the baking sheet so the meatloaf doesn’t sit in it’s own “drippings”.
Step 7: Prepare your glaze by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, dried mustard, paprika, granulated garlic & onion and tomato paste inside a small bowl.
Step 8: Take half of the glaze and smear it evenly over the top of the meatloaf and save the rest.
Step 9: Bake at for 50 minutes, then smear the rest of the sauce on top of the meatloaf and put it back into the oven for another 15-20 minutes.
Step 10: Let the meatloaf cool off for about 10 minutes so the juices can redistribute.
